New season tees off with Captain’s Day competition
25 club members at Parley Golf Centre near Bournemouth Airport joined the Captain, James white, for a 9-hole Stableford competition recently, marking the start of the 2008 golfing season.
Facilities at the club are undergoing a programme of refurbishment and the course, under the watchful eye of Head Greenkeeper Brian Edwards, is being upgraded to improve the playing experience and provide new challenges.
Joe Lucas, a member of the club for the past four years, is enthusiastic about the changes taking place: “This is a very enjoyable course to play – nice and flat for those of us who want to save our energy for hitting the ball, but with plenty of interest. The improvements being made to the clubhouse and course are very welcome and the new ownership is bringing a breath of spring air to the club.”
Members taking part in the Captain’s Day competition enjoyed the customary social gathering afterwards at a prize giving.
